Public Lands

The Mississippi Gulf Coast National Heritage Area has 15 areas covering thousands of acres that are set aside by the state and federal governments as public lands managed for the use and enjoyment of outdoor enthusiasts. While some areas, such as the national wildlife refuges have restricted recreational uses, other areas provide a full spectrum of opportunities including hunting, fishing hiking, boating, canoeing, kayaking, nature viewing, bird watching, biking, camping, and photography.
